General questions
Who installs hurricane shutters and motorized screens in Stuart, FL?
Advanced Hurricane Protection is a family-owned company based at 4517 SE Commerce Ave in Stuart. For over 20 years our team has installed motorized screens, roll-down, accordion and Bahama shutters, impact windows and impact doors for homes and businesses across the Treasure Coast. Estimates are free and done in your home.
Do impact windows replace the need for shutters?
Often, yes. Impact windows and doors are built to withstand wind-borne debris, so many homeowners choose them because the protection is always in place, with nothing to put up. Some properties still benefit from shutters depending on exposure, budget or local code requirements. We look at each opening and recommend what makes sense.
Do motorized screens protect against hurricanes?
Hurricane-rated screens do. We install MagnaTrack screens by Progressive Screens, including the Defender hurricane screen, which carries Florida Building Code approval. Everyday MagnaTrack screens give shade, privacy and bug protection. Many homeowners put a bug screen and a hurricane screen on the same opening, both hidden when not in use.
Are permits required for hurricane shutters or impact windows in Florida?
Yes. Most hurricane protection installations in Florida need a permit and inspections to make sure the work meets local and state building codes. Our team handles the permitting process and coordinates the inspections, so you don’t have to.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the size of the project and the products. Most residential window, door or shutter installations are finished within a few days once the products are ready. We give you a clear timeline during your free in-home estimate so you know what to expect.
Which areas do you serve?
We are based in Stuart and serve the Treasure Coast and beyond: Stuart, Palm City, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Okeechobee, Tequesta, Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington, the Palm Beaches and the Space Coast.
Do you work on condos and commercial buildings?
Yes. We protect single-family homes, condos, apartments, offices, restaurants, hotels and retail spaces. That includes high-rise impact windows and doors, chosen for the building’s height and wind-load requirements, and commercial motorized screens for large patios.
Do hurricane shutters and screens need maintenance?
Yes. Annual maintenance is strongly recommended for any engineered shutter or screen system. We offer MagnaTrack certified yearly check-ups and testing, plus yearly inspection and service of impact sliding doors and windows for waterfront and coastal homes.
Accordion Shutters
Who installs accordion shutters in Stuart and the Treasure Coast?
Advanced Hurricane Protection installs accordion shutters in Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and across the Treasure Coast, from the Palm Beaches to the Space Coast and out to Okeechobee. We are a family-owned company based in Stuart, and our accordion installs include Bertha HV shutters. Call (772) 220-1200 to book a free in-home estimate.
How long does it take to close accordion shutters?
Each accordion shutter slides closed in seconds and locks in the middle. Most homeowners can close up a whole house in a short walk around, with no tools and no ladders for most windows. That is a big change from storm panels, which can take hours to put up.
Do accordion shutters rust near the ocean?
The shutters we install are built for Florida weather. They use heavy-duty extruded aluminum, powder-coated finishes that resist rust and fading, and corrosion-resistant hardware. Like any system near salt air, they last longest with care. Rinsing the tracks and having them checked each year keeps them sliding smoothly.
Can accordion shutters cover a sliding glass door?
Yes. Heavy-duty accordion systems are designed for wide spans like sliding glass doors, patios and lanai entrances. The shutter folds to one or both sides and closes across the whole opening. We measure each slider and lanai to make sure the system is sized and anchored correctly.
Bahama & Colonial Shutters
Who installs Bahama shutters in Stuart, FL?
Advanced Hurricane Protection installs Bahama and colonial shutters in Stuart, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and across the Treasure Coast, from the Palm Beaches to the Space Coast and out to Okeechobee. We are a family-owned company based in Stuart. Call (772) 220-1200 to schedule a free in-home estimate.
What colors do Bahama and colonial shutters come in?
Any color you like. We can match your trim, your front door or the colors your HOA approves, so the shutters look like part of the house instead of an add-on. We’ll go over colors with you during your free in-home estimate.
Do Bahama shutters block the view?
Partly. When propped open, a Bahama shutter shades the top of the window and filters the view from above, while you can still see out underneath. Many people like that it cuts glare and adds privacy. If a full, open view matters most, colonial shutters or another system may suit that window better.
How do you close Bahama shutters for a storm?
You release the support arms, lower the shutter flat against the window and secure it in place. The exact steps depend on the product. When we install your shutters, we show you how to close and secure each one, so storm prep is quick and you know it is done right.
Impact Doors
Who installs impact sliding glass doors in Stuart?
Advanced Hurricane Protection installs impact entry and sliding glass doors in Stuart and across the Treasure Coast. We are a family-owned company based at 4517 SE Commerce Ave in Stuart. Our team handles the permitting process and coordinates the inspections. Call (772) 220-1200 for a free in-home estimate.
Do impact doors make my home more secure?
Yes. Impact doors use tough laminated glass and reinforced frames, which make forced entry much more difficult than with standard doors. The glass is designed to stay intact even when it cracks. That security works every day of the year, not just during hurricane season.
Can impact doors have decorative glass?
Yes. Impact entry doors are available with decorative glass, and they can be paired with impact transom windows and sidelights. You can update the look of your front entry and add storm protection in the same project. We walk through door and glass options at your estimate so you can choose what fits your home.
Do impact doors reduce noise?
Yes. The thicker laminated glass in impact doors helps reduce outside noise, so your home feels quieter. Many homeowners notice the difference most with sliding glass doors near busy roads, pools or the water. Better seals also help cut drafts and air leakage.
Impact Windows
Who installs impact windows in Stuart, FL?
Advanced Hurricane Protection installs impact windows in Stuart and across the Treasure Coast, from the Palm Beaches to the Space Coast and out to Okeechobee. We are a family-owned company with our shop at 4517 SE Commerce Ave in Stuart. Our team handles the permitting process and coordinates the inspections. Call (772) 220-1200 for a free in-home estimate.
Which impact window brands do you install?
We install impact windows from Shwinco, Viwinco and many other makers, and choose the product for each opening by its size, exposure and the style of your home. Viwinco windows carry the maker’s limited lifetime warranty. We’ll show you the options that fit during your free in-home estimate.
Do impact windows help with energy efficiency?
Yes. Impact-rated windows often improve energy efficiency by reducing air leakage and blocking UV rays. Many homeowners notice better indoor comfort, less outside noise and lower energy costs after installation. Results depend on your home, the glass you choose and how many windows you replace.
Will impact windows lower my insurance premium?
They may. Many Florida insurers offer discounts for certified impact windows and doors because they lower the risk of storm damage. The amount depends on your insurer and policy. Ask your agent what paperwork they need, and we can share the product details for your windows.
Motorized Screens
Who installs motorized screens in Stuart, FL?
Advanced Hurricane Protection installs motorized screens in Stuart and across the Treasure Coast. We are a family-owned company based at 4517 SE Commerce Ave in Stuart, and we install MagnaTrack screens by Progressive Screens, including the Defender hurricane screen. Call (772) 220-1200 to set up a free in-home estimate.
Are motorized screens strong enough for a hurricane?
Hurricane-rated motorized screens are built for storm conditions. The MagnaTrack Defender we install carries Florida Building Code approval FBC#30798, according to the manufacturer. Standard bug and shade screens are not hurricane rated, so ask which type you are getting at your estimate.
What is the MagnaTrack Defender screen?
The Defender is a motorized hurricane screen made by Progressive Screens as part of the MagnaTrack line. It rolls down from a hidden housing to protect lanais, patios and other large openings during a storm, then rolls back out of sight. It is backed by the manufacturer’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. We can explain the details at your estimate.
Can I keep my view with motorized screens?
Yes. When the screens are up, they hide inside a slim housing and your view is fully open. When they are down, screen fabric still lets light through, so you can see out while blocking glare, bugs or wind. Shade and privacy fabrics come in different openness levels, and we explain the choices at your estimate.
Aluminum Roll-Down Shutters
Who installs roll-down hurricane shutters in Stuart?
Advanced Hurricane Protection installs aluminum roll-down hurricane shutters in Stuart and across the Treasure Coast. We are a family-owned company with our shop at 4517 SE Commerce Ave in Stuart, and we have served the Treasure Coast for over 20 years. Call (772) 220-1200 for a free in-home estimate.
Are your roll-down shutters motorized?
Yes. Every roll-down shutter we install is motorized. A small motor inside the tube at the top lowers the aluminum curtain with a switch, remote or smart control, so large and second-story openings close as easily as small ones.
What happens to a motorized shutter if the power goes out?
Power often goes out during a storm, so plan to close your shutters while you still have power. Many motorized shutter systems can be fitted with a manual override or a battery backup so you can still operate them without power. We will go over the options for your openings during your estimate.
How long does it take to close roll-down shutters?
A motorized roll-down shutter closes with the push of a button, far faster than putting up storm panels. That speed is the main reason people choose rolling shutters for storm prep.
